Day 2- Los Angeles to Santiago

We made it back to LAX by 9am Friday morning since I figured the extra time would be needed to track down our bags. Yesterday, we were told that our bags were not in LA, but in either Dallas, Miami or possibly already in Santiago (unlike us). When we checked in at the LAN counter for our Santiago flight, the LAN agent asked if we had any bags to check in. When we explained how we were told that our bags were ahead of us in travel, she called around and found out that apparently our bags never left LA; LAN was holding them. We asked to physically see the bags (since we didn’t believe anyone). We were told no, that was not possible. Basically we were told the complete opposite of what the American Airlines baggage clerk told us the day before. Turns out we could have had our bags for that LA stay-over if the AA person actually tried to fetch them. Without question, the luggage tracking system is severely inept.

We made the 1:30pm flight from LA to Santiago with a quick stop in Lima, Peru around midnight, and then took off for our final destination.
